Dental Care

Dental disease is one of the leading causes of declining health in dogs and cats. The bacteria found in pets’ mouths can travel through their bloodstream and cause multiple organ infections. Dental infections have been linked to diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease and other life threatening conditions. What’s important to remember is that medical conditions caused by dental disease are preventable!

Dental cleanings are same day procedures and the type of anesthesia used will depend on your pet’s health and medical history (see our surgery page for more information on anesthesia and pre-anesthetic lab testing).   We use hand and ultrasonic scaling to remove the tarter buildup, then polish and apply a fluoride treatment. We participate in National Pet Dental Health Month every February and offer discounts. We strongly believe this is a critical part of your pet’s health!

We can also recommend specially formulated food to help maintain the dental health of your pet as well as discuss with you ways you can take part in your pet’s teeth and gum care at home.
